WWfreebanner

Detective Paige Whiskey comes from a long line of witches. They may not all be the most powerful, but they are outspoken and supportive of their community. She alone has no gifts. She can’t summon fire, can’t read minds. She knows the arcane. She’s studied it. That, along with her connection to the Whiskey Witches, lands her some pretty strange cases.

Like the sacrificial murders of St. Francisville, Louisiana. There’s a killer on the loose, choosing people in a vain attempt to raise a demon. Not just any demon, though. A man born long ago, made a demon in order to protect the Gate to Hell.

Together with demon hunter, Dexx Colt, her kitchen-witch grandmother, and her paranormal investigator brother-in-law, they unravel a conspiracy far bigger than a few simple murders, and re-discover Paige’s gift.

She’s a demon summoner and she’s key to the killer’s plan.

Welcome, Reluctant Stranger by Evy Journey

Welcomereluctantstrangerbanner

WelcomereluctantstrangerLeilani’s mother has never set foot in her school until the day she whisks her children out of their Pacific Island country, without their father and without explanation. Eighteen years later, Leilani just wants to leave the past behind, move forward.

She has settled peacefully in California and like her long-lost father, she heals people. But her tranquil existence is disturbed one evening.

A computer nerd and culinary whiz with a biting sense of humor, Justin is brokenhearted from the loss of his girlfriend who has left him after seven years. All he wants is to drown his sorrows. But he finds more trouble than he’s looking for when thugs assault him.

On her way home from work, Leilani sees the assault. An ace with a gun, she rescues him.

Weeks later, they meet again and find themselves attracted to each other. Fearing Justin is on the rebound, or has a rescuer complex, Leilani doesn’t want to get involved.

But Leilani cannot deny her feelings. As they begin to fall in love, her past comes back to haunt her.

A friend of her father arrives with news which forces her mother to reveal a shocking, shameful secret–the truth about the role Leilani’s father played in a deadly political web.

Can Leilani deal with the truth? But hero or villain, he is her father and only she and Justin can rescue him from the island she’d left long ago.

At the core of this women’s fiction is an Asian woman-white man interracial romance spun with international political intrigue and a young woman’s acceptance of her past. Welcome Reluctant Stranger is Book 3 in a family saga. In three tales of loss, love, second chances, and finding one’s way, three strong women cope with issues contemporary women face.

SPR Independent Woman Authors 2015 bronze awardee Evy Journey has always been fascinated with words and 61KYqdGx5XL._UX250_seduced by beautiful prose. She loves Jane Austen and invokes her spirit every time she spins tales of love, loss, and finding one’s way–stories she interweaves with mystery or intrigue and sets in various locales.

She’s lived and traveled in many places, from Asia to Europe. Often she’s ended up in Paris, though–her favorite place in the world. She’s become something of an observer-wanderer. A flâneuse, as the French would say.

The mind is what fascinates her most. So, armed with a Ph.D., she chose to work in mental health, researching and developing programs. And writing like an academic. Not a good thing if you want to sound like a normal person. So, she’s written fiction (happy fiction) as an antidote.

A silent call for help began the friendship between two children. A bond unlike any other kept them together.

Finn was just a kid when he first heard Snow’s voice inside his head, two children in need of a friend and finding one in mysterious strangers. Never meeting in person, the pair grows up as opposites – Finn the boy who loves to get in trouble and works for the toughest drug lord in town, Snow the good, sheltered girl who wants to be a doctor.

The bond built upon a strange ability to hear each other’s thoughts is threatened when Snow is abducted, her screams for help consuming Finn’s mind until they disappear completely, submerging him in a terrifying silence he’s never known before. Now it’s up to Finn to save her, led only by Snow’s sporadic thoughts as she floats in and out of consciousness.

But the search for Snow leads him to a truth he isn’t prepared to face, a truth that has the power to unravel his entire world. The people he thought he knew, the life he thought he’d made, the best friend he thought he could protect – all point toward a brutal reality should he fail.

And as Finn struggles to find Snow before she slips away, he must fight to keep that reality out, lest he let the chaos in.

Behind the Chaos:

“The Silent Sounds of Chaos” was a lot of fun to write, if not sad and stressful at times. I wanted to share a little piece of my writing experience with you. I hope you enjoy these interesting facts about the book and its most memorable characters. And yes, there are seven facts for a reason …

1. Finn’s name is a two-part inspiration. In the book, his nickname is inspired by Huck Finn, the boy who went off on adventures and always got in trouble. But in real life, Finn is … the name of my cat. I also have a cat named Malachi, and “Malachi” makes his appearance in my fantasy novel, “The Never.” It’s only fair Finn gets his fictional counterpart as well!

2. “The Silent Sounds of Chaos” was originally inspired, in part, by the movie “Taken.” I wanted to write a book about a girl who is abducted, and the boy who would do anything to save her. When I began writing it, though, the story took a major twist and turned into something much, much different, complete with telepathy and hidden backstories.

3. Yellow is an important color throughout the novel. I won’t say why, but something to keep in mind!

4. I came up with the title, The Silent Sounds of Chaos, years before the idea for the actual book. I was waiting for the perfect story to fit what is currently my favorite book title.

5. DU is one of the cruelest, most vile characters I’ve ever created. In the actual book you don’t see a lot of that cruelty (though it is hinted at), but knowing what I know of his backstory, he was one of the hardest characters for me ever to write. I really, really don’t like him. And I hope you despise him too!

6. “The Silent Sounds of Chaos” originally had a completely different ending. That ending was scrapped after I talked it out with my husband and he so gallantly stated the entire book was pointless if that’s how I planned to end it. After getting over my initial pouting, I realized he was right (don’t tell him I said that), and reworked the entire book to fit what I think is the perfect ending.

7. “The Silent Sounds of Chaos” is the first book I’ve ever written from a male POV. It was definitely a challenge, getting into a guy’s head and trying to make him sound genuine while also fitting my vision for the character. Overall, I’m really happy with Finn and I hope you are too!

PSYCHO INSIDE ME

I killed my first victim at thirteen years old – my age, not his. He was going to rape me, him and a couple of his friends. And so, I killed him. And then… I killed again. And again.

At seventeen, I’m killing four to six times a year – maybe more. Don’t stress out. I only go after the pedophiles and rapists. There are more out there than I could cover in a lifetime.

Saying I did this on my own would be selfish. Enforcing justice holds a glory all its own. But now, my lifelong friend and backup, Deegan, has been arrested. I have to decide if I want to give myself up and take his place or leave him with all the damning evidence. I don’t want to stop killing. But if I let him take the fall, I can’t kill anymore. And I need to keep doing that.

But the worst part of it all? I love him.

DICTATING DEATH

Samantha wants to love him.

Maria wants to kill him.

Dr. Luke Lawson has no idea that the girl he’s dating has split personalities fighting to control her body. Samantha must keep Luke safe at all costs.

If Samantha wins, Maria will die and disappear forever – taking Samantha with her.

If Maria wins, Dr. Lawson will die and she and Samantha will move on to the next doctor – the next kill.

But Luke is special.

He could save Samantha from herself… but only if Samantha can save him.

WATCH ME BURN

Levi

I’ve been in love and it hurts.

We hurt each other.

On purpose.

I can’t escape the guilt.

Megan

I don’t want to be just friends with Levi.

But I will be.

He’s been hurt before and I just want to be there for him.

Someone needs to be on his side.

Chelsea

Levi Cole is mine.

I want him.

She can’t have him.

She needs to die.

Freedom from Fear by Pauline Creeden #free

Notice: Trying to access array offset on value of type bool in /home5/thewiney/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 523

FreedomfromFearbannerfrontFear is a cage. It closes us in and keeps us from living in the freedom that we should be.

Some people get so overcome by fear that they cannot even leave their house. Phobias have become almost fashionable. We label our fears and hug them tight to us as if they are things we need to keep our security. We coddle them and keep them happy so that they don’t destroy us, and the last thing we want to do is provoke them. That powerlessness is what keeps us from accomplishing great things in our lives, whether personally or for God’s kingdom.

In Freedom from Fear, we explore the keys to our freedom through faith and obedience to God’s word. With this book, you’ll learn to put your trust in God’s character and turn to him when you’re feeling out of control.
