Two Brothers: Origin (A Ramtalan Trilogy)

Genre: YA

And it sure doesn’t help that he and his brother, Tai, are being pursued by a secret government agency. To top it off, now in their senior year at public high school, both boys risk exposure when Argus uses his extraordinary strength to defend himself against the school bully, falls for 16 year-old Lola and then learns that New Breeds are set for extermination by another group of hostile aliens. Excerpt:

A small, thin girl with wavy reddish-brown hair half way down her back came into the lobby and went straight to the counter like she was on a mission. Argus couldn’t take his eyes off her. There was something about her. The way she moved, graceful, feminine, yet strong. She wore slightly baggy jeans and a tee shirt with frayed sleeves and when she turned around, he was breathless. She looked right at him with deep green eyes that caught the fluorescent light, and her smile, that incredible smile, lit up her entire face. She was amazing.

She stared at him for a moment. “Hi, I’m Lola McCreary.” Her voice sang like the prettiest music. “Are you the new students?” She came over and extended her hand.

Argus jumped up and took her hand in his and kissed it. That was his first reaction. His second reaction was embarrassment when her green eyes widened and she retracted her hand.

“I’m sorry,” he mumbled. That move, ill fated as it was, had been straight out of an old movie he’d seen. Guys didn’t kiss girls’ hands these days, he knew that. Mistake number one.

Instead of laughing at him, Lola smiled and her cheeks blushed red. “Wow, that’s the nicest thing I’ve ever had anyone do to me. So, are you the new students?”

Tai, obviously trying to suppress a laugh, but not quite doing it, nodded. “Yeah, I’m Tai and this is Argus. I hope you don’t mind if I don’t kiss your hand. My brother seems to have that gallant move covered.”

Argus wanted to die. He’d never been so embarrassed. First girl he meets and he’s humiliated beyond belief. Thanks, Tai.

What is love?

When I was a little girl, I always thought love was this warm and fuzzy feeling that would encompass me when I found the man I Would marry. How funny is that? As I got older, I learned that love isn’t really an emotion or a feeling at all, it’s so much more than that. Love is a choice.

I met the man who would become my husband in 7th grade, we were both awkward and unsure of ourselves. I didn’t even give him a second glance until sometime in high school. Something changed right after we both graduated, and we embarked on a journey that would lead us down the aisle a few years later. I promised God and all of our family that I would love him for all of my days.

8 years after that short walk down a flower strewn aisle we’re still together. I’m not saying it’s always easy, but I wake up every morning and make the choice to love him. Does he still give me butterflies in my stomach? Yes, he really does. I still get the warm fuzzy feeling when he smiles at me, or holds my hand.

I have found that as we grow together, my feelings for him have grown as well. The things about him I used to think were sexy, those are still the same, but there are new things as well. Seeing him with our son, that melts my heart. Watching him clean the kitchen? That gets me all hot and bothered lol. I am so proud of the man he has become, and I thank God that he chose me for his wife.

I know that life will throw challenges and roadblocks at us, but as long as we have each other to lean on, nothing can tear us apart. I’m a bit sappy when it comes to my husband, I am so blessed to have found him. He is the best part of my life, I honestly don’t know where I would be without him.

What are your thoughts on love? Have you met the other half of your soul yet??

Where can you find me??? Feel free to stalk lol.

My History of Reading:

I have been reading as far as I can remember. Despite being an author now, I haven’t always enjoyed reading. There have been times where I found it to be hard and boring. There was also a time where the only books I’d read for fun was the Harry Potter series. The weirdest thing is that while many kids like to read above their level (about characters older than them), I’ve liked to read books below my reading level.
In second grade I was a big fan of books by Dr. Seuss. I would constantly borrow Dr. Seuss books from my school library. Second Grade was also the first year I read a chapter book, not on my own, but as a school assignment. Now I hear that many seven-year-olds wouldn’t be caught dead reading Dr. Seuss. I’ve heard of some that even reading middle grade novels.
When I was sixteen, I bought a book at a book signing called School of Fear. The main characters were twelve to thirteen years old. I was actually almost going to read it for my summer reading assignment for school. But my mom had to stop me and tell me that it was too young. She’d said that it would be fine for leisure, but for an assignment, it should be a more mature book. I learned that as you get older, your reading choices should be more grown-up. People actually expect others to be mature readers.
Now I am almost twenty, and I still find children’s books more interesting than adult books. I have read some adult short stories in one of my classes at college when I was a freshman. They didn’t sound as exciting as I had imagined.
A lot of people my age, however, have graduated from the teen/young adult books and now read adult fiction. One person about a year old than me had enjoyed reading The Cuckoo’s Calling by J.K. Rowling. I think it is time for me to try reading adult novels for fun.

The Accidental Demon Slayer

New York Times bestselling series! It’s never a good day when an ancient demon shows up on your toilet bowl. For Lizzie Brown, that’s just the beginning. Soon her hyperactive terrier starts talking, and her long-lost biker witch Grandma is hurling Smuckers jars filled with magic. Just when she thinks she’s seen it all, Lizzie learns she’s a demon slayer-and all hell is after her. Of course that’s not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos, a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin, needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you’ve never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. Carpe Demon-

Retired demon hunter Kate Connor must go back to work when she spots a demon lurking in the local Wal-Mart. But she’d better not arouse suspicion. This kind of thing could really hurt her husband’s political career.

Girls Guide to Witchcraft-

Which is more unlikely?

Meeting a single, straight, reasonably attractive, willing-to-commit man?
Or discovering a secret cache of magic books?

For good-girl Jane Madison, neither has a shot in hell of coming true — until the day she finds a hidden room . . .

Now she’s done a bit of experimenting and found a spell that makes her irresistible to men — even those who have previously ignored her. And another that turns a cat into her witch’s familiar (a snarky, critical, self-absorbed man — pretty much a typical male). Though her impulsive acts of magic have brought a warder (sexy, grouchy, elusive and determined to stop her from using magic) down on her, Jane’s not willing to let go of this fantastic new life.

Though she wonders about having things that aren’t “real,” she’s having too much fun to stop. After all, no one ever said being a witch was easy.

How to Date a Werewolf-

Romance can be a hairy business–especially when you’re a werewolf. As the owner of Get a Mate Dating Service, Rylie is more than happy to step in and lend a hand to lonely lycanthropic hearts all over town. No matter how hopeless Rylie might be in finding her own soul mate, she has a knack for helping others find theirs. Convinced that she is stuck with a family curse, Rylie is positive she will never find her true love. But when drool-worthy Jack Chandler shows up at her door, Rylie wonders if maybe the curse is finally broken. But Rylie’s life is about to become complicated courtesy of the after-dark crowd. When she begins receiving strange notes and harassment from a jilted client, events careen out of control. Jack knows she’s more hassle than he can handle. What he doesn’t know is whether she’s seriously in trouble . . . or simply delusional.

Easy Bake Coven-

For Selene Warren being a witch is no big deal. She dabbles in harmless magic with her friends and never thinks much about it. However, when a stranger who seems to know her shows up at her studio and her grandmother is brutally attacked, her simple life becomes complicated.

A world of elves, half-elves, fae—and one peculiar Sekhmet named Femi open up to her. She will discover that fairy tales are real, politics are ugly in any world, and there is a lot more to her life than she ever dreamed possible.

This new reality threatens swallow Selene whole, but with a forgotten past beating down her door, she will have to dive in to save her future.
