Marcie Bridges has always wanted to be a writer, from the time she started keeping a diary in seventh grade. Since then, she has earned a master’s degree in education from Cumberland University while teaching some wonderful children with special needs in Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky.

While she will always bleed scarlet and gray (GO BUCKS!), she now lives south of Cincinnati with her husband and daughter. When Marcie isn’t writing, she can be found reading, watching her favorite TV shows, listening to music, or browsing her favorite websites.

What is the best movie based on the book?

For me, it was The Secret Life of Bees. They kept close to the book and the casting was fabulous. We all know that casting can really ruin a movie for the book lover. They made lots of changes to the Harry Potter movies, but the casting was so good for those movies, it didn’t bother me as much. Twilight on the other hand, had such poor casting choices that it really made the movies less enjoyable for me. I love to watch a movie and relive the book and The Secret Life of Bees did that for me.

Literary Addicts Weekly Meme – Hated Required School Reading

What book were you required to read in school that you absolutely hated?

Ugh…Lord of the Flies. Although I may have liked it if wasn’t for the tedious picking apart of every little thing in that book. I mean we all like discussing books and what it means, but this one just seemed too much. It just never ended. Sometimes you just want to READ. I don’t feel it is necessary to dissect every scene, every word… you get the idea. This book was just chock full of things for the teacher to point out to us. I have reread couple of books from high school like The Gret Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye. I found they were quite different to read as an adult. But can’t bring myself to reread Lord of the Flies. Just the word conch makes me cringe.
