Literary Addicts Weekly Meme – Hated Required School Reading

literaryaddictsmeme

What book were you required to read in school that you absolutely hated?

Ugh…Lord of the Flies. Although I may have liked it if wasn’t for the tedious picking apart of every little thing in that book. I mean we all like discussing books and what it means, but this one just seemed too much. It just never ended. Sometimes you just want to READ. I don’t feel it is necessary to dissect every scene, every word… you get the idea. This book was just chock full of things for the teacher to point out to us. I have reread couple of books from high school like The Gret Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye. I found they were quite different to read as an adult. But can’t bring myself to reread Lord of the Flies. Just the word conch makes me cringe.

What book did you have to read you hated?

Literary Addicts Weekly Meme – What book character would you like to vacation with?

literaryaddictsmeme

What book character would you most like to go on vacation with? Where would you go?

First of all, I would like to go to Europe. I was during college but would love to go back with my husband and kids. But who to bring along? Someone fun, someone who can speak many languages, perhaps a good tour guide?
I think someone fun is most important so I would choose Roon from Olivia Hardin’s Bend-Bite-Shift series. He is someone who would be fun to have along, he seems to know his way around and enjoys a good time. And the books just came out in a boxed set so you can get all 3 Kindle books now for only $6.99!

About the Author:

I am a small town girl with big dreams. I grew up in a small coastal community called Pamlico County in the town of Reelsboro North Carolina. Growing up in such a rural area there wasn’t much to do, so I developed a wide fantasy finding solace in writing poetry and songs. After high school I left my little secure coastal town to discover other parts of the country. It was a sad and lonely time, but also a fun and exciting time in my life. I had too many emotions to process so I started to put it all down on paper. That became the start of my first novel, which I have yet to finish. My first complete novel entitled Protector was a dream come true, although I found out during the process, at 31 years old, I am dyslexic. Reading was always a struggle throughout my life and finding out why has really made a difference in me and my writing. It was such a wonderful and daunting process but I have succeeded in doing something I never thought I would do. I have 3 novels published, Protect, Protect Me and Too Close To Home and 2 more on the way. Writing is such a passion of mine and will continue to be whether I become successful with it or not. I currently live out side of my home town with my husband and daughter.

Literary Addicts Weekly Meme – Favorite Villain

literaryaddictsmeme

Favorite villain you love to hate? There are so many. The obvious ones, Voldemort, Captain Hook, the White Witch. The ones in young adult or children’s books are easy to spot.
But I recently read a book with a truly scary villain…Queen Nix in Fall of Sky City by S.M. Blooding. Crazy is a nice way to put it. She kills people, even children and does other horrible things I can’t even write here. Seriously nasty stuff. Like would not want to meet her in a dark alley or anywhere else for that matter. But you just have to see what she does next because you can’t believe what she does!
Love to hate her! And waiting ever so patiently for the next book to come out to see if she gets what she deserves.
