I never have been one to make a New Years resolution, the tradition of it always seemed sort of silly to me. Like why are we all waiting until the new year to change things in our lives that need changing?
This year I decided to make a resolution. I have decided to take more time for myself and my family, and to realize that I am not Wonder Woman, and that I cannot in fact do it all at all times. I’ve had a problem with saying yes to everyone when they ask me to do things, and this year it’s really become a problem for me.
Saying yes in itself is not bad, I still plan on saying yes a lot, but not at the expense of time with my family, or time allotted for writing. I want my son to remember doing fun things with me, not watching mommy on the computer all of the time. I’ve already started Sunday Adventure day with him. This past week we went on a hike by the beach, and he was soaking wet and filthy, but the smile on his face as he climbed on rocks and saw tide pools made it all worth it.
Also, I will…..go to the gym at least 4 times a week! I have the membership, and I actually like going, I’m just lazy when it comes to making myself go lol.
Are you making a resolution this year???

What is love?
When I was a little girl, I always thought love was this warm and fuzzy feeling that would encompass me when I found the man I Would marry. How funny is that? As I got older, I learned that love isn’t really an emotion or a feeling at all, it’s so much more than that. Love is a choice.
I met the man who would become my husband in 7th grade, we were both awkward and unsure of ourselves. I didn’t even give him a second glance until sometime in high school. Something changed right after we both graduated, and we embarked on a journey that would lead us down the aisle a few years later. I promised God and all of our family that I would love him for all of my days.
8 years after that short walk down a flower strewn aisle we’re still together. I’m not saying it’s always easy, but I wake up every morning and make the choice to love him. Does he still give me butterflies in my stomach? Yes, he really does. I still get the warm fuzzy feeling when he smiles at me, or holds my hand.
I have found that as we grow together, my feelings for him have grown as well. The things about him I used to think were sexy, those are still the same, but there are new things as well. Seeing him with our son, that melts my heart. Watching him clean the kitchen? That gets me all hot and bothered lol. I am so proud of the man he has become, and I thank God that he chose me for his wife.
I know that life will throw challenges and roadblocks at us, but as long as we have each other to lean on, nothing can tear us apart. I’m a bit sappy when it comes to my husband, I am so blessed to have found him. He is the best part of my life, I honestly don’t know where I would be without him.
What are your thoughts on love? Have you met the other half of your soul yet??
Where can you find me??? Feel free to stalk lol.

I’m a pipeline writer. I usually have three books in the works at any given time. One is in the final stage of production which means tedious proofreading and cover art. When I’m waiting for my editor or artist to do their jobs, I work on the first draft of the next book. It’s refreshing to bounce back and forth between old and new work. This strategy also helps me maintain continuity between books. While that’s going on, I’m also thinking about the book I haven’t even started yet. I take notes as ideas occur to me. Gradually, I build up an outline. After I publish, the pipeline moves forward and I go straight into the next project without a break.
Alex Siegel grew up a math and computer geek. At the age of twenty-five, he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell. He continues to make a good living as a software developer in Chicago. In his late twenties, he took up creative writing as a serious pastime with the intention of eventually making it his career. This goal has been elusive, but failure is not an option. In 2001, his wife gave birth to triplet boys. People often ask him how he still finds time to write. In 2009, he began the Gray Spear Society series, and he hopes it will be his key to literary fame.

Heroes
I write a lot about heroes. In my books and on my blog. I have always had a fascination with them. What makes a hero, a hero? What makes someone a hero? I’ve spent a good part of the last couple of years thinking about it and this is what I’ve come up with.
A hero sacrifices. He or she puts someone or something before themselves. They care about something else more than they care about themselves. To me that’s the definition. A hero doesn’t have to lay down their life but they have to do it at least metaphorically. They have to be willing to give up something big.
Why do people love heroes so much? Well, we want to be important. We want to matter. We want to be impressed. Heroes accomplish all of those things.
We also want to be like them. I know I fall very short of the mark but when I read about somebody, a soldier, a parent, a friend who sacrificed something big for the love of someone or something else? I’m impressed.
Who are the heroes in your life? I’ve had many. My dad, my husband, the boy my daughter graduated with who gave his life for our freedom in the war in Afghanistan. They are all heroes to me.
There are a few heroes in Crushing. I love creating admirable, strong characters and a few of them had a lot to say and I want to hear more. I never know which ones will be my favorites until the end. I may have to give a few of Crushing’s secondary characters their own heroic story sometime soon.
I love to hear hero stories. Who’s your hero?
Elena lives and writes in a suburb North of Los Angeles. She has never lived anywhere besides California which is probably a good thing since she hates being cold and is terrified to drive in the snow. She loves being a wife and a mother to her two kids and three dogs, although really the bulldog is the fourth child who has never matured beyond the toddler stage.
A self proclaimed nerd, she has been writing since she was a child. She has only recently, however, come out of the closet about this to her family and friends. They now understand better, but not completely, why she talks about characters in stories as if they are real people.

A lot of people ask me who I would pick for actors if my stories were ever made into movies. This is a very difficult question because no actors truly fit whom I imagine in my mind, but these people come closest.
Chris Hemsworth as Adam Everwood
I’m not sure who she is, but when I saw this picture I instantly thought of Anna’s best friend, Elle.
Again, I’m not sure who this guy is, but he made me think of Adam’s second in command, Joe.
